David Karran
Musical Director
A professional music teacher by trade, David returned to the IOM from his position as Director of the Arts for Outwood Academy Ripon (overseeing provision of thirty-two secondary schools) in 2020. David is an experienced teacher and musician and has played for some of the biggest and most successful brass bands in the world (most recently with the world-famous Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band).
As Musical Director, David leads both the IOMBA and Onchan Silver Band, where members of all abilities can benefit and learn from his expertise and experience.

Sian Linney
Academic Tutor & Safeguarding Officer
Currently working as the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator at Ballakermeen High School, Sian also boasts a wealth of musical experience and qualifications.
Sian began her musical journey at the age of 5 in South Wales. Having played with the National Youth Brass Band of Wales, Sian went on to study at Huddersfield University, where she graduated with a first in performance; before continuing in order to gain her teacher training qualification.
Prior to moving into the principle seat at Onchan Silver Band, Sian played with some of the biggest names in Brass Banding: including YBS Band, The Hepworth Band and more recently Bradford City Brass Band.
